Author of viral Colorado boulder tweet “rocks” her mistake

San Miguel Sheriff's Office

It started as a simple public safety tweet by the San Miguel Sheriff's Office.

"Large boulder the size of a small boulder is completely blocking east-bound lane Highway 145 mm78 at Silverpick Rd. Please use caution and watch for emergency vehicles in the area."

But it was that slight typo that entertained the internet and garnered the tweet hundreds of thousands of fans. At last count, the tweet had 210k likes.

The tweet's author, Public Information Officer Susan Lilly, owned up to her mistake and told KRDO, "I was trying to say 'Large boulder the size of a small CAR."

Still, she says she's glad the viral tweet provided the Twitterverse with a laugh and says now, "I rock it."

The now famous tweet became so popular that even celebrities like Chrissy Teigen took notice.

Teigen said, "How I describe anything, confusing everyone around me."

To clear up some of that confusion, the San Miguel Sheriff's Office soon specified the boulder was "approximately 4ftx4ftx4ft (64 cubic ft) and weighed about 10,000lbs." A large boulder the size of a small boulder indeed.
