2 dead in RMNP identified as mother, son from Colorado Springs
ESTES PARK, Colo. (KRDO) -- The two people who were found dead in Rocky Mountain National Park last Friday have been identified as a mother and son from Colorado Springs, park officials say.
They died from gunshot wounds, according to a release from the park Monday.
The mother was identified as 24-year-old Tristen Watson, who had been reported to park rangers as a likely suicidal subject. It's not known at this time the context of how the park rangers were notified.
Her son, 17-month-old Christopher Watson, was found dead as well.
Their bodies were found by park rangers on the Beaver Meadow Trail near Upper Beaver Meadows Road.
The National Park Service is continue to investigate. No further information is available at this time, said park officials.

ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) - Two people were found dead in Rocky Mountain National Park in north-central Colorado.
Park officials were searching for a suicidal person on Friday afternoon and found that person's vehicle near Upper Beaver Meadows Road. Park rangers found the subject and another person deceased. Their bodies were turned over to the Larimer County Coroner's Office.
Officials did not release any identifying information about the deceased individuals. Park officials said the coroner's office would be releasing their names and cause of death after an autopsy and after family members are notified.
