Suspect in custody after barricaded situation near Cimarron Hills area
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office tells us that a 43-year-old male suspect is in custody Wednesday morning following a barricaded situation.
The incident started around 6:29 a.m. at the Motel 8 on Peterson Road. Sergeant Deborah Mynatt says they received a call for service on a mental health crisis.
"We had crisis negotiators on-scene from our office and we also had patrol units on scene and we had SWAT paged out," said Mynatt, adding that the suspect initially refused to exit the motel.
The suspect, William Hinde, was in custody just after 9 a.m. and transported to a hospital for self-inflicted injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Hinde is facing a felony charge for menacing tied with domestic violence charges. He also had multiple felony warrants.
"The good thing is it's a positive resolution," Mynatt said. "The public is not in harm's way now."
