Woman arrested for assault after kicking a Colorado Springs police officer
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Police say a woman is in custody after she confronted officers and began kicking one of the officers in the chest and legs Saturday night.
At 11 p.m. officers responded to a reported disturbance at 860 Oxford Lane. At the scene, officers found a "very intoxicated" woman inside the apartment, according to police.
Officers determined that the disturbance was verbal only, but the woman "became confrontational" with the officers so the responding officers placed her in handcuffs for the officers' safety, police say.
The woman agreed to go to the hospital but, as officers were leading her out of the apartment, she went to the ground and began kicking one of the officers in the chest and legs.
The officer was not seriously injured and the woman was taken into custody without further incident, police say.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Denise Rios, was booked for second degree assault.
