CDOT’s plans for 2020
As we end the first week of the new year, CDOT is ending some projects and rolling out some new ones that you can look for in the year 2020.
"Almost all of our projects that we had around the region are completed and then we have some new plans," said transportation director Karen Rowe.
But that doesn't mean you're off the hook in terms of construction projects taking place around Colorado Springs.
"At US 24 west of I-25, we will continue to add a turning lane and finish the paving in the spring when temperatures go up. We have I-25 at Butte Creek, where the northbound bridge is being completed, and we have I-25 ramp metering to work on to reduce congestion," said Rowe.
Several new installments are expected to pop up. Even if they're a headache now, they'll make life easier in the future.
"US 50 will be widened in the westbound direction to three lanes to Purcell, and then Purcell and US 50 will have an interchange, State Highway 21 at Powers Boulevard will also have a great separated interchange. These will be multi-year projects," added Rowe.
Pack your patience for improvements in the long run.
