Puppy thrown at car up for adoption Friday by random lottery

PUEBLO, Colo. -- A puppy that was thrown at a car by a man who admitted to being high on meth is now set to be adopted Friday through a lottery system.

Because so many people have expressed interest in adopting the puppy since the incident was first reported, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has decided that the only fair way to determine his adopters is to hold a random drawing.

The following are the rules for Bob's adoption drawing, provided by the HSPPR.

  • The Pueblo shelter at 4600 Eagleridge Place will open its doors 11:30 a.m. Friday.
  • All interested adopters can fill out an adoption form, which is due by 12 p.m. sharp.
  • Staff members will review the applications and run the potential adopters' names through their database.
  • They will then randomly select an adopter at about 12:30 p.m.
  • The selected adopter can then visit with Bob.
  • If, for whatever reason, they don't think Bob would be a good fit, another name will be drawn.

Bob's adoption fee is $400 and includes neuter, vaccines, a voucher for a veterinary exam, 30 days of pet health insurance and a dog license, according to the Humane Society.
