Man high on meth cited after throwing puppy at car
PUEBLO, Colo. -- A man high on meth was cited for animal cruelty after throwing a puppy at a car early Sunday, police say.
When police responded to the scene of a disturbance just after 4:30 a.m., they found a man wearing only boxer briefs. The man admitted to police that he had tried meth for the first time and was hallucinating.
Across the street in the 400 block of S. Santa Fe Avenue was a woman and her daughter in their car, which had run out of gas. They had called the police, and saying that the male had approached their car and thrown a puppy at it.
They told police that the puppy bounced off the hood and was underneath the car, terrified.
Officer Keegan Verdugo of the Pueblo Police Department used some of his dinner leftovers to lure the puppy out.
Animal Control responded to collect the puppy in the hopes of finding it a good home, police said.
The male suspect was transported to a local hospital and cited for animal cruelty, according to police.
