Residents at University Village still without heat after anticipated completion date

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Several residents at University Village in Colorado Springs say they are still without heat despite management's anticipated repairs by Monday.

In a third letter to residents, Priderock Capital Management explained that a delay in the delivery of a new pipe "pushes our expected completion date back to December 23, 2019." Residents have now been without heat for nearly a month, since the issue was first reported in late November.

While residents say some groundwork has been done, they're not counting on the having heat again until after Christmas.

"It's truly a mess out here and people are very angry," wrote one resident who wanted to remain anonymous. "Makes for a miserable Christmas."

KRDO first reported on the issue after management provided the affected residents with 1500-watt space heaters. But several residents explained the those weren't enough to warm the apartment and brought other problems.

"I was over at my neighbors and she was vacuuming her bedroom with the heater plugged in and it popped the circuit breaker," said Shannon Rishky, who has lived at University Village for almost five years.

Since our initial report, more current and former residents have contacted KRDO with concerns over possible city code violations committed by the management at University Village.

KRDO has reached out to Priderock Capital Management for a response on the issue.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
