Police service dog caught stealing, hoarding donated toys at Massachusetts police department
FRANKLIN, Mass. -- A golden retriever at a Massachusetts police department was not being a very good boy last week.
An officer caught the canine caper on camera as he was carrying off a doll meant to be donated to children in need.
The Franklin Police Department was holding a toy drive for the holidays and no one thought to close the door to the room that was filled with gifts.
Wednesday, an officer captured the video below of the pup. The dog is seen trotting down the hallway with his prize and dropping it off under a desk, where there is already at least one other stolen toy.
"We learned an extremely valuable lesson today," the Franklin Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. "When you have a classroom full of toys ready to be shipped off to the Santa Foundation, you should...
1. Close the door to the classroom
Or
2. Keep the toys elevated
If not, a golden retriever will slowly hoard them throughout the day and bring them back to his lair. "
