Crews extinguish house fire in Colorado Springs

Mark Pimentel

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Fire crews responded to a house fire at E. Willamate and Royer Street Sunday morning.

The fire ignited on the exterior of the home when a pile of wood caught fire.

One person was home at the time of the blaze, but was able to get out safely.

Fire crews say there is only smoke damage to the house's interior, but there is more substantial damage to the siding.

Crews did not provide any additional information as to how the wood pile caught fire.
