Trinidad man gets life for Aguilar murder
Trinidad, Colo. (KRDO) - A man was sentenced to life in prison Monday for the kidnapping and killing of 39-year-old Burchard Mitchell in May of last year.
Domenic Damelio, 22, was charged with first degree murder and two counts of first degree kidnapping back in August.
He pleaded not guilty on all counts, but was only successful in having one of the kidnapping charges dismissed, according to Las Animas County court records.
A second person arrested in connection with the homicide, Angela Waln, was charged with conspiracy to commit first degree murder, conspiracy to commit second degree murder, conspiracy to commit, first degree kidnapping and unrelated drug charges.
No additional details about the homicide were released during last year's investigation. We've reached out to the Las Animas County Sheriff's office for more information.
