Local honey company wins best in state
Each year at the Colorado State Fair, beekeepers compete to see whose honey bees garner the biggest buzz. This year, local Buzz’n Bees Honey took home the blue ribbon for their honey.
For many, beekeeping is a hobby, but for Danny and Melissa Banks it’s a passion.
“My love for bees actually started in elementary school. I had a school teacher that had an observation hive that was set up near a window, and so we could just see the bees coming in from outside and watch them in the observation hive,” Danny Banks told KRDO.
This year, their company rose to new heights by becoming the state winner at the fair.
“When I tasted our honey and saw how clean and clear it was, I said, ‘Wow, this is a beautiful honey,’ and at that point I decided I was going to submit it to the fair,” explained Danny Banks.
You can find Buzz’n Bees Honey at local farmers markets in El Paso County, or by visiting their Instagram or Facebook pages.
