Inmate turns self in after escape from Florence Satellite Prison Camp

UPDATE: The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Mayo Martinez Murillo turned himself back in Thursday morning after walking away from a prison camp in Florence on Wednesday.

The bureau says the investigation into his escape is still ongoing.

U.S. Marshals are searching for an inmate who walked away from the Satellite Prison Camp in Florence.

The Cañon City Daily Record is reporting that Mayo Martinez Murillo, 26, was first discovered missing early Wednesday morning. He was sentenced to three years for a Supervised Release Violation in California.

Murillo is a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He stands about 5’11” and weighs 185 pounds. Anyone who has seen Murillo is urged to call the U.S. Marshals right away at 303-335-3400.

This is the second inmate escape out of Florence this month. On Aug. 11, two federal prison inmates walked away from the Federal Prison. They were captured the next day in Pueblo County.
