Body of missing hiker found in Rocky Mountain National Park
The body of a man found in Rocky Mountain National Park Tuesday is believed to be that of 37-year-old Aragorn Spalding of Greeley, Colorado.
Park rangers were notified that Spaulding was overdue late Sunday night. The Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue Team began search efforts on the ground Monday morning while a Flight For Life Air Ambulance provided air support. Spaulding’s vehicle was found on the road near the Corral Creek Trailhead in the northwest portion of the park.
A Colorado National Guard helicopter assisting with the search located the deceased below a large cliff band in a steep, scree area. The body was flown to Harbison Meadows and transferred to the Larimer County Coroner’s Office. The Coroner’s Office will not release positive identification until completion of their autopsy.
The man’s cause of death is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time. Check back at KRDO.com for updates.
