Teller County deputies bust multi-state marijuana distribution near high school
A major multi-state marijuana distribution house has been busted by the Teller County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday morning, the Teller County Narcotics Team and officers from the Cripple Creek Police Department executed a search warrant on a house along Pikes Peak Avenue behind Cripple Creek High School.
Lieutenant Wes Walter says, “The normal citizen probably would not notice anything out of the ordinary.”
A press release explained law enforcement “seized 43 plants (31 plants over the legal limit), multiple pounds of processed marijuana, seven firearms, three vehicles, and evidence of an illegal multi-state distribution operation.”
A father and son, both named Michael Gravino were arrested and are now facing several felony charges.
The Teller County Sheriff’s Office says the two were growing and then processing the marijuana before shipping it in postal service boxes across the country to states like Florida and Texas.
Walter explained, “They were running a distribution ring, they were growing and distributing to other states.”
Both Gravinos are being held in the Teller County jail on a $500,000 bond.
