Pedestrian loses leg after Colorado Springs crash, suspect at large

A pedestrian involved in a crash on July 13 has suffered serious injuries and lost their leg as a result of the crash.

The victim is a 33-year-old Colorado Springs resident.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Academy Blvd. and North Carefree Circle. The suspect left the scene and police are continuing to search for the driver.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was attempting to cross North Academy Blvd. when they were struck by a vehicle going southbound. Police report that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and continued southbound after the crash.

Evidence along with eyewitness accounts indicates that the suspect vehicle is a red or orange 2004-2011 Ford Focus (pictured above). The vehicle should have a broken right front headlight, damage to the passenger side and a damaged passenger-side mirror.
