Pueblo Water to examine 500 homes for lead

Water service lines for approximately 500 Pueblo homes will be examined by for lead as a part of the “Get Lead Out” program.

The area of the examination will be West 10th Street north to W 15th Street, and from Francisco Street to east N. Main Street.

There will be a minimal excavation near water meters on selected properties. If the service line material is determined to be lead, the address will be placed on a list for a replacement at no charge.

Customers will be contacted if the service lines are determined to be lead.

The “Get the Lead Out” program aims to reduce the potential of lead in drinking water that may be due to service lines.

It is believed that there is a very small percentage of lead service lines in Pueblo.
