Two-hour power outage south of Pueblo caused by squirrel

UPDATE: Officials say that they believe power has been restored to all members.

San Isabel Electric says the two-hour power outage was caused by a squirrel on one of the company’s transformers, which interrupted power to multiple substations.

The squirrel didn’t survive.

Members whose power is still out are asked to please call 1-800-279-7432 or use the SmartHub mobile app to report their power outage.

San Isabel Electric members were without power Monday afternoon.

The power supplier experienced problems in which 8,000 meters were down. The outage is affecting

members south of Pueblo, mostly along the I-25 corridor between Greenhorn Valley and the surrounding Trinidad area.

Officials say it will take time for the power supplier to evaluate the problem and correct it. Local state and other officials have been notified.
