1 killed in UTV crash near Manitou Springs Cog Railway

Ambulances and first responders rushed up Ruxton Ave. in Manitou Springs and then had to keep going on rough terrain to get to a UTV crash near the Cog Railway line Friday evening.

Few details have been released, but the call went out shortly before 6 p.m. Colorado State Patrol confirmed that the incident is an ATV crash on private property owned by the Cog Railway. CSP did confirm that at least one person is dead following the crash.

Four other people were reported seriously injured. A helicopter had to land at the Incline parking lot to transport a patient, and multiple ambulances were called.

A source tells KRDO that the crash involved a Stacy and Witbeck construction crew working on the Cog Railway project. That information hasn’t been confirmed, and our calls to Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. haven’t been returned yet. We researched and found that Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. is presently involved in at least one project on the Cog Railway.

No official word has been given on the extent of the other injuries.

We’ll update this story when we have more information.
