07/21/19 Forecast Discussion

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms likely. The biggest concerns will be strong wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and hail. These thunderstorms are currently located in far northern El Paso County and are moving northeast. A flood advisory is in effect for the monument area and is set to expire at 7:30pm. Flash Flood Watches are also in effect for the Sangre’s and Wet mountains till late tonight, as scattered showers over the burn scar areas could potentially cause flooding. Precipitation chances will diminish overnight with temperatures into the mid 50’s for Colorado Springs.

Monday: Partly cloudy skies to start off the day then turning mostly cloudy by early afternoon. Temperatures well below seasonal averages with high’s only reaching into the mid 70’s for Colorado Springs and mid 80’s for hwy50. Another round of afternoon showers and thunderstorms will start in the afternoon over the higher elevations, then approach the I-25 corridor by early evening. The moisture will struggle to move east of Pueblo so much of hwy50 and the eastern Colorado plains will stay dry.

Extended: Temperatures warm back to average by mid-week with daily afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms.
