Severe weather leaves Pueblo marina damaged

Southern Colorado saw severe weather Saturday afternoon. Pueblo experienced approximately 2 to 3 inches of rain in about an hour. Flash flooding also caused parts of I-25 to be closed temporarily due to standing water.

Roads like Abriendo Avenue, Main Street, and Elizabeth Street experienced flooding, and several drivers found themselves stuck in the waters as a result.

At the Pueblo Reservoir, the dock at the North Shore Marina was left damaged following the storm.

Due to the strong winds and water pressure, the dock of the marina folded in on itself.

Connie Jack, the owner of the North Shore Marina, says approximately 300 to 400 people were on the marina when the storm rolled in. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries at this time.

Marina officials and Park Rangers will make an assessment of all the damages Sunday morning. Jack is unsure how many boats were damaged and to what extent, but witnesses on the marina during the storm tell KRDO that several boats received severe damages.

It is unclear how long the reconstruction process will take place. Jack says they will remain closed to public until Colorado Parks and Wildlife give them the okay to open again.
