CSPD arrest woman for DUI in serious pedestrian v. vehicle crash

Update: Police officers saw a woman driving eastbound on Colorado Ave. sideswipe 3 parked vehicles. Officers initiated an attempt to pull her over.

The woman was later identified as 30-year-old Tara Studer of Colorado Springs. As Studer was pulling over, she ran into a parked white van. A man who was working out of the back of the van was hit and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Studer was arrested for DUI.

Family and friends confirm the victim is Mike Elmore. One friend posting on Facebook that Elmore had his leg amputated below the knee. Elmore also suffered from a broken leg, arm, multiple ribs, and vertebrae.

Officers are investigating a serious pedestrian vs. vehicle accident in the area of W. Colorado Ave. and Chestnut Street, CSPD tweeted Tuesday evening.

An unknown number of persons have been transported to a hospital and the extent of the injuries have not yet been reported. A Major Crash team is on site investigating.

W. Colorado Ave is closed from Chestnut Street to Walnut St. CSPD warns drivers to avoid the area for the next several hours.
