Crews respond to reported explosion in east Colorado Springs

The Cimarron Hills Fire Department responded to a reported explosion Wednesday morning, but there’s no threat to the public.

Units were called to the 6900 block of Space Village Ave.

According to a KRDO reporter at the scene, no smoke or flames were visible. A power line was hanging low, and high-profile trucks were being diverted to avoid touching it.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud bang, prompting the call for an explosion. It’s still under investigation, but the noise was likely a piece of electrical equipment malfunctioning.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
