Woman dies in tubing accident in South Platte River

A tragic water-related fatality occurred Friday around noun when an adult female died in the South Platte River near Fort Morgan.

She and 2 other adult females were tubing east in the river when they came to a low head dam. After talking briefly, two of them exited the water while the third woman decided to go over the dam and continue east in the river.

The two that left the river saw the third go under the water. When they saw her come up again after some time she was floating in the water and unresponsive. They pulled her to shore and called 911 at about 3:39pm. Officers responded to the call near county road 24 and began C.P.R.

She was transported to the Colorado Plains Medical Center where she was pronounced dead by medical staff. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
