Heavy rain and lightning threat for Southern Colorado – 7/2/19
A few showers and storms possible around the region this evening. Heavy rain and frequent lightning are the primary threats.
Heavy rain and pea-sized hail fell in north Colorado Springs at about 3 p.m. The main concern lingering after the storm is flooding.
Showers and storms taper off after 10 p.m. then gradually becoming mostly clear, with lows in the 50’s.
High pressure slowly builds across the area mid-late week which yields less rain and storms are in the forecast by Wednesday, which also means a warmer day. The Fourth of July looks mainly dry with highs getting back to the 80s and 90s. Just plan on a stray afternoon or evening shower. We steadily increase the storm chances again through the weekend, with the stormiest day looking like Saturday.
