Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will host a 50th birthday party for Missy the elephant Sunday
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo announced it will host a 50th birthday party on Sunday for its oldest resident, Missy the African elephant.
The celebration will take place in the zoo’s Encounter Africa Exhibit from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visitors will have a chance to write birthday messages, watch a zookeeper demonstration, and partake in an elephant feeding opportunity with Missy. The party will culminate in a ‘happy birthday’ sing-a-long as Missy chows down on a cake of mammoth proportions.
At 50, Missy is one of the oldest African elephants currently living in the U.S. and has surpassed her median life expectancy by about 12 years. She’s in good health and it’s possible she could continue to thrive for many more.
