Regency Tower tenants allowed into apartments before asbestos closure

Monday marked the first day many tenants were allowed back into their apartments to either move completely or gather items while waiting for repairs.

Tenants will be allowed in from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday until this Friday.

After those dates, management says residents will not be allowed access for about eight weeks.

This is after a fire tore through multiple apartments near the 10th floor in late May. Much of the lingering issue affecting residents’ ability to move back in has to do with exposed asbestos due to the fire.

We’re told apartments with more damage have been closed off with plastic and no one is being allowed in those areas.
