Arrest Made in Carjacking Death in Pueblo

Detectives have arrested 20-year-old Anthony Finley on a warrant for 1st Degree Murder in connection with the carjacking death of 22-year-old Jesse Garcia.

On June 7th, at around 10 p.m., Finley was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on a no-bond arrest warrant.

Pueblo Police thanked the public who submitted tips and information in this case.

Throughout the week, detectives from the Pueblo Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Section worked on the case.

On June 3 at around 7:45 a.m, Jesse Garcia was dragged by a vehicle while trying to stop a car thief.

Garcia later died from his injuries at the hospital.

According to Pueblo police, Garcia’s Jeep Cherokee was left running in the 900 block of E. 5th Street when the suspect tried to steal it.

Garcia tried to stop him, but was dragged before falling off in the 600 block of Joplin Ave.

Police say the vehicle was later found near 1200 Socorro Place.
