Hail damage still lingers in Fountain as people prepare for more storms
Despite some ominous looking clouds, the hail we saw in Fountain Wednesday ranged from graupel to penny size. However, it was a tense afternoon for many in the area still recovering from last year’s storm.
Tarps on roofs, golf ball sized holes on the siding of dozens of houses all from the hailstorm that came crashing down in 2018.
Vincent Malesa with First Priority Roofing said he fixed about 300 homes and is still getting calls.
“It’s nonstop I mean as you can see around the neighborhood siding hasn’t been replaced, and we are just trying to catch up before hail season hits again,” says Malesa.
People are getting prepared for the next one, buying hail protection kits for their cars. Others like Ashlei Griglione is getting a little more creative. She built car protectors out of wood after last years storm.
Griglione says, “We built those as a temporary solution until we build a carport because last year when we had larger than golf ball sized hail we had two vehicles totaled by it.”
She says she knows it’s going to happen again this summer like it does every year.
