Thunderbirds roll through the sky ahead of AFA Graduation

With just three days from the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation, the Thunderbirds took to the sky for a practice run.

Weather pushed back the original time of the site survey, but just before 2 p.m. Monday they could be heard flying over Colorado Springs.

It’s the iconic roar that echoed through Colorado Springs that had many looking up towards the sky.

The performance is just a small piece of what will come Thursday at the annual Air Force Academy graduation.

And while it’s just a rehearsal for the F-16 squadron, it’s quite the entertaining display for all who come out to watch.

The performance comes one year after Maj. Stephen Del Bagno died during pilot training.

But the signature passes, rolls and loops he was once a part of continue in his honor.

The unmistakable echo of the jets now an unforgettable moment for all who were lucky to witness the show.

Another flyover is set to take place Tuesday before the 30-minute performance following the hat toss at graduation Thursday.

Though the show is subject to change due to the Thunderbirds’ performances depending on weather.

An increase in traffic is also expected Thursday with President Trump set to speak at the ceremony.
