Park planners propose bailout points on Manitou Incline
One of the areas most popular hikes, the Manitou Incline, could be seeing more changes in the next few years.
Colorado Springs park planners and advocates are proposing more bailout points on the Incline for those who can’t make it to the top.
KRDO Newschannel 13 reporter Sam Postich hiked the Incline and talked to hikers about the proposed bailout plans.
“It would be a nice option, that way if people haven’t done it before, it gives people a way to kinda work their way into the Incline,” Dana, a hiker on the trail said.
Many hikers mentioned safety as a big reason for adding bailout points, while others just found the bailout points unnecessary or harmful to the environment – since it would require some tree removal in order to make the new trails.
“I think the work they’ve already done is sufficient. And if you’re going to turnaround now (1/4 The Incline mark), you just go down the way you came up,” Karen, a hiker on the trail said.
