Local plumbing company asks for help locating burglars
A local plumbing company is left looking for answers after a break-in last week. Now, Mr. Rooter Plumbing is asking for the public’s help in investigating the burglary.
In 15 years, Mr. Rooter Plumbing has never seen anything quite like this. Two men broke in and stole a heavy safe.
Charlie Hall, the owner of Mr. Rooter Plumbing, said, “Oh about 300 pounds, so a couple of stout kids hauled it off, you know I wouldn’t want to pack it to the car.”
The suspects targeted two things: a file cabinet that sometimes holds money, and a safe, which they completely removed.
The safe had checks, 30 vehicle titles and credit cards. Hall was able to cancel all of the checks and credit cards, but there were two titles in the safe that he held very close to him.
Hall said a family member “bought that Plymouth back in 1937.”
“He’s deceased and it’s going to be very difficult to replace. And the Volkswagen, my wife’s father who passed when she was seven bought that Volkswagen new and having the original titles was very important,” Hall said.
But Hall isn’t surprised, he says this area is notorious for break-ins.
“I guess Saturday, the hotel at the end of the block got held up by gunpoint. All of the businesses here have been hit at least once,” said Hall. “So it’s becoming an epidemic in the Springs.”
Although the security system worked, Hall said it could have done better. After this break-in, Hall is completely upgrading his system and adding more lighting.
The suspects were driving a black SUV. If you have any information please contact police.
