Police investigate gunshot in east Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police are searching for the person or people responsible for shooting a gun near a Colorado Springs middle school late Wednesday night.

Police responded to the 100 block of Coleridge Ave, near Jack Swiggert Middle School, for reports of a shooting. Police were also alerted to a blue sedan leaving the scene.

Multiple witnesses told police that a fight broke out between a group of young men, possibly teens, with some of them damaging the blue sedan.

Witnesses report one shot was fired, but no victim was identified as being hit or shot at.

The blue sedan was located by Gold Hill officers, however, it is uncertain if the people inside the vehicle were victims or suspects in the situation.

One juvenile in the vehicle was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

The incident did not occur on school property and was not associated with the school.
