Peter Mayhew, actor known for playing Chewbacca, dies at 74
Peter Mayhew, the actor best known for playing Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy, passed away this week at the age of 74.
Mayhew’s family confirmed his passing Thursday, saying on Twitter that he died Tuesday in his North Texas home.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family on June 29, and a memorial for fans will be held in early December at EmpireCon in Los Angeles.
Mayhew is survived by his wife and three children.
