Shots fired Wednesday night at west Colorado Springs restaurant

Gunfire threw a scare Wednesday night into many customers of the Taco Bell restaurant at 31st Street and Colorado Avenue on the west side of Colorado Springs.

Around 8 p.m., witnesses reported someone firing a gun in the rear of the restaurant’s parking lot.

Colorado Springs police officers and El Paso County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, sealed off the area and questioned witnesses.

No one was hurt in the incident, authorities said, as they investigated on the scene for several hours.

Authorities said they’re trying to identify a suspect and determine a motive for the gunfire; they didn’t say how many shots were fired, or in which direction.
