Free open house aims to help homeowners, contractors in Pikes Peak region
Are you having trouble with your contractor? Do you need help with homeownership issue? An open house in Colorado Springs is coming up in May that could be just what you need.
The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department is hosting the free event for from May 16-17. It will include informational classes for both homeowners and contractors.
“It really depends on what you’re looking for, but there are a lot of options out there,” said Greg DinGrando with the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.
The open house is set to be split up to two days so administrators are able to provide more specific courses tailored to the need of both homeowners and contractors.
What free classes will be provided?
“We have a number of them from a plain review, to an overall question and answer, to a scam alert class, to one even navigating through our website,” said DinGrando.

Residential Plan Review 8:00 – 9:30 a.m.
Homeowner Q & A 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Lunch 11:30 – 1:00 p.m.
Homeowner Scam Alert 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Homeowner Website Navigation 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Friday May 17 – Contractors
Residential Plan Review 8:00 – 9:30 a.m.
ANSI & Accessibility Class 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Lunch 11:30 – 1:00 p.m.
Commercial Plan Review 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
1 & 2 Family Dwelling Code Update 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
The purpose of the event is to warn the public about potential contractor red flags.

The event runs from May 16-17 at the Regional Development Center at 2880 International Circle.
All classes are free and lunch will be provided.
