4/8/19 Monday Weather Discussion
Today: Starting off the work week on a beautiful note. Temperatures to about 73 in Colorado Springs, and reaching near 80 degrees across the Arkansas river valley. Eastern Colorado will turn partly cloudy this afternoon but remain dry with light winds.
Tomorrow: Tuesday is when we get the first hint of changing weather conditions. Colorado will remain under a ridge of high pressure through the day but an upcoming cold front will start to make its presence felt. Prefrontal conditions will increase the surface pressure gradient and whip up the winds in eastern Colorado, gusts to 35-40mph. Temperatures will approach record highs in Colorado Springs and combine that with relative humidities down to about 11% and you have yourself critical fire weather. Fire weather watches are in effect for tomorrow, don’t be surprised if the national weather service bumps those up to red flag warnings.
Extended: Wednesday will be a real smack in the face. High temperatures barely hitting into the 50’s with the potential of rain changing over to snow. Yea I said it, snow. A snow accumulation forecast is quite difficult. A few degrees makes all the difference but model runs are trending on the trace to 1″ mark in Colorado Springs, with potentially heavier accumulation towards Denver. Just make sure to keep updated on the changing weather conditions for Wednesday.
