Woman arrested after serious crash injures toddler in Colorado Springs

A woman was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash on Roller Coaster Road Saturday afternoon.

Colorado Springs Police say Claudia Castellano was speeding south on Roller Coaster Road and lost control near Honey Run Way.

The car crossed into the northbound side of Roller Coaster Road and went over the curb.

Castellano then overcorrected the car and flipped the car onto its roof when it returned to the street.

Both Castellano and the passenger, a toddler, were taken to the hospital.

Police say it appears the toddler was likely not in a car seat, and had to be taken to Denver because of serious injuries.

CSPD said both drugs and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

Castellano was arrested for DUID and causing serious injury, CSPD says she was also arrested on an unrelated warrant.
