Colorado State Patrol car hit in crash on Hwy 24

A Colorado State Patrol car was involved in a crash on Highway 24 near Ridge Road Friday morning.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. The patrol car’s driver-side door was severely dented and its airbags were deployed; a Jeep was also damaged.

According to officials at the scene, a dump truck rear-ended the Jeep as they were driving on Highway 24, and that pushed the Jeep into the trooper’s car, which was turning from Ridge Road.

The trooper was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but information about his injuries wasn’t released.

The crash was blocking traffic on the eastbound lanes as of noon. Click here for an updating traffic map.

We have a crew at the scene, check back for updates.
