Sen. Bennet diagnosed with prostate cancer
Colorado Senator Michael Bennet has prostate cancer, a spokesperson confirmed Wednesday night.
The senior senator from Colorado, who is 54, was diagnosed at the end of March. He will undergo surgery in Colorado during the upcoming Senate recess and return after his recovery.
In a statement, Bennet wrote, “While hearing news like this is never easy, I am fortunate it was detected early, and as a result, my prognosis is good. This unanticipated hurdle only reinforces how strongly I feel about contributing to the larger conversation about the future of our country, and I am even more committed to drive that conversation in a positive direction.”
Bennet is considering a bid for the White House, but it is unknown if the diagnosis will affect that decision.
