Doorbell camera catches attempted home invasion in Colorado Springs
Three people were spotted on surveillance camera trying to enter a locked home early Monday morning in east Colorado Springs, and one of them was holding a handgun.
The video from a Ring doorbell camera was shared with KRDO; according to a Facebook post, the attempted home invasion happened in a neighborhood near Peterson and Tutt boulevards.
In the video, you can see one young man in a black bandana and black hoodie with the word “Faith” on it. He’s holding a handgun, but it’s not clear if it’s a BB gun.
Two other men are seen in the front yard waiting for the young man as he tried to open the front door. When he realizes it’s locked, the three of them leave.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that the trio had been located and they were all identified as juveniles. They were arrested on a charge of attempted first-degree burglary. The sheriff’s office says no other information will be released because they’re juveniles.
The hoodie is from Second Chance Through Faith Youth Ministry, based out of Colorado Springs. A representative with the ministry said they know the boy and that his dad turned him in. The group says it’s not giving up and will “keep praying and providing services to give them alternatives so they don’t get into trouble.”
If you have information about their identities, call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, 719-390-5555. Reference case number 19-4809.
