1 injured during armed robbery of Colorado Springs Buffalo Wild Wings

Colorado Springs police are investigating a robbery at a Buffalo Wild Wings on N. Academy Blvd. that left one person injured.

It happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday when at least two gunmen went in and demanded money from the register, according to police.

Police say nearly 25 people were inside the restaurant at the time of the brazen robbery.

The father of one of the victims is now counting his blessings.

“It’s something that’s probably going to stick with her for the rest of her life,” he said.

Scott Glaser’s 19-year-old daughter was out with friends when she says armed, masked men walked through the front door of the restaurant demanding money.

“She said that a guy walked in with an assault rifle and she looked at the front door and as soon as she saw the gun she hit the ground,” Glaser said.

Police say it’s uncertain how many men were involved and their descriptions are unclear as well.

“Usually bandits are coming into these locations, they have one focus and that’s to get the money and get out as quickly as they can so when you see this escalation it’s always concerning,” Lt. Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department said.

In this case an employee was hit in the head with a gun.

“Everyone in the bar immediately headed towards the back door of the bar and my daughter was one of the first ones out,” Glaser said.

Glaser says his daughter was so scared she ran across the shopping center to one of the places she knew she would be safe, Crave Real Burgers where Glaser happens to be the General Manager.

Even though he says crime is uncommon for the area, he says it’s a sign that it can happen anywhere.

“I’ve worked in the complex since the early-mid 2000s and we’ve never really had anything expect for some window break-ins and stuff and nothing ever violent. It’s always been a pretty safe neighborhood,” he said.

Police said the suspects fled before officers arrived. No other details have been released.

We should also mention that several years ago the restaurant chain became a gun-free zone.
