Multiple crashes after pedestrian hit crossing the street

Colorado Springs Police said a woman was seriously injured after she was hit while crossing the street at Pace Dr. and S. Academy Sunday afternoon.

The initial crash then led to a chain reaction crash involving two other cars.

Police said the driver who hit the woman ran away after the crash. Officers are currently trying to locate them.

All southbound lanes of Academy were closed starting at Verde drive and northbound lanes were also closed starting at Chelton road for about four hours. They have since been re-opened.
