Peterson AFB general tapped to lead U.S. Space Command
General John Raymond was nominated by President Donald Trump to lead U.S. Space Command.
Raymond has spent multiple stints in southern Colorado at Peterson Air Force Base, most recently as the present commanding general of Air Force Space Command.
His promotion, pending congressional approval, would put him in charge of both Air Force Space Command and U.S. Space Command.
Trump’s administration says it’s working to modernize the bureaucracy surrounding national security in space due to growing threats from competitors like Russia and China, according to a statement from Rep. Doug Lamborn’s office.
U.S. Space Command is also based out of Peterson Air Force Base.
