Colorado Springs, Fountain on ‘Accident Alert Status’ as snow moves into Southern Colorado

Right now, The Colorado Springs Police Department and Fountain Police Department are both on ‘accident alert status’ as heavy snow moves into Southern Colorado.

When the police department is on accident alert, traffic accident reports should be filed later for accidents in which there are no injuries, drugs or alcohol are not suspected, there is no damage to public property and everyone involved remains on scene and agrees to exchange insurance information.

During this time, drivers have up to 72 hours to file a cold crash report with the police department or state patrol. Those forms are available online, by clicking here.

Fountain Police have also closed Mesa Rd. A press release from the department says it’s closed because of icy conditions. The road was closed just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
