First of its kind job fair takes place in Colorado Springs
For the first time ever, local companies had the opportunity to recruit students from all four colleges in the region under one roof as more than 50 employers packed the City Auditorium for a first of its kind job fair.
“First of its kind means, we’ve never had a multi-campus job fair,” said Yemi Mobolade with the Chamber and EDC.
Underclassman to recent graduates from Colorado College, Colorado Technical University, Pikes Peak Community College and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs were all able to take part in this great opportunity.
Chris Lane, recent graduate of UCCS said, “Be open to opportunities kind of like this today and look for anything and everything.”
While Nell Dickey a Sophomore at Colorado College added, “It’s beneficial to put yourself out there and so far it’s been a positive experience.”
Mobolade, who helped organize today’s event said the main goal of this job fair is retention.
“In more or less we are matchmaking. Right talent with the right companies. Part of our effort as an organization has to deal with talent retention. We want to keep the talent in this city and not lose them to another city,” said Mobolade.
And, Mobolade hopes it will continue for years to come. “It’s a great experience that I feel has worked. But, I want to make sure that we are solving a problem, meeting a need and not just adding another event.”
Along with speaking to local employers, Attendees were also able to hear from expert panels and get a new headshot for their Linkedin.
