Grant Cruikshank

Going fast is in Grant Cruikshank’s DNA, “That’s just a part of our family. Whether it is racing to the door or just little things that our family just so competitive at,” says Grant Cruikshank.

The Cruikshank’s competitive nature lead Grant’s mom Bonnie Blair to five gold medals in Olympic speed skating, his father Dave also competed in four Olympics as well in speed skating, “Yeah they-their fast. Some of their earlier races they weren’t wearing the collapsed skates. They were wearing the the old ones that dind’t come apart didn’t detatch. So just seeing how fast they could go on those is crazy,” says Cruikshank.

So you would think naturally, Grant’s parents would try to steer him in the direction of speed skating, “I liked it. I thought it was fun to be out there with them buzzing around and they wanted me to do what I love. That was hockey it wasn’t speed skating so they didn’t try to force speed skating down my throat or anything like that. They just wanted me to be happy,” says Cruikshank.

Grant’s happiness is when he is buzzing around the ice with stick, slapping at a puck. Grant’s father Dave is a skating coach for Los Angeles Kings which has helped him look regal on the ice.

“I think everyone would say he’s definitely one of the fastest skaters on the team. It’s effortless at times so, it’s almost annoying at times I think because I wish I could skate like that,” says Trey Bradley.
He credits his parents for helping him shave a few seconds so he can go faster, “They are two people that I’ve learned everything in my life is from them and I think the person I am today is definitely because of everything they’ve taught me and I can’t explain how much they mean to me,” says Cruikshank.
