Colorado Springs police identify teen accused of robbing 3 stores, shooting clerk
Colorado Springs police identified the suspect accused of shooting a convenience store clerk and robbing three stores earlier this month.
Wednesday, police released the photo of 19-year-old Vincent Lupori and said he’s responsible for the robberies and the shooting. He faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated robbery and motor vehicle theft.
Police say Lupori robbed a store near 1900 West Uintah and another near 5600 Palmer Park before going to the Valero station at 5790 North Carefree Circle. At the Valero, a clerk was shot during the robbery, and Lupori fled in a stolen vehicle.
CSPD says the clerk suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries from the gunshot.
Previous Story
Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a shooting and robbery at a Valero gas station in the 5700 block of North Carefree Circle around 9 this morning.
According to police, the suspect had already robbed two other locations just a few hours before. The first robbery was in the 1900 block of West Uintah, while the second robbery was at the 5600 Block of Palmer Park.
At the third location, the armed suspect entered the Valero gas station attempting to rob the clerk. The clerk put up a fight. That’s when the suspect’s gun discharged, wounding the clerk. The suspect then ran out of the store, got in a stolen car, and backed up into a parked car.
After that incident, he got out of the car and ran off. After police arrived at the scene, CPSD sent an emergency message shortly thereafter as the suspect was still on the loose in the area of Oro Blanco Drive and Artistic Circle.
Police asked residents in the area to stay indoors as well as lock and stay away from windows and doors.
A neighbor saw suspicious activity at someone’s backyard and called 911. An hour later, CSPD tweeted out that the suspect was now in custody.
