Air Force Academy opening planetarium to public

We already have a pretty good view of the stars on most clear nights along the Front Range, but a new planetarium at the Air Force Academy is sure to give you a better look at the stars when it opens next Saturday.

Oh, and yes, there are laser rock shows planned “in the near future.”

The AFA is opening its planetarium with a Steve Spangler Show at Arnold Hall from 3 to 4 p.m. on March 2, followed by an open house from 4 to 5 p.m.

Spangler is known for his visually appealing science experiments and is a regular guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Tickets are free, but you’ll need to call and make a reservation in advance. Call 719-333-4496, and tickets can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday or at the planetarium by 2 p.m. Saturday.
