Soldiers celebrate their return home in Fort Carson Homecoming
Today Fort Carson held another homecoming as soldiers from the 10th Field Hospital 627th Hospital Center were able to make the trip home. About 55 soldiers were able to walk through the doors as family members and loved ones looked on to see their soldier finally home.
Tiffany Stevers who waited nine months to see her husband said, “We’ve been waiting on it for almost a week now to get a good set week so we are very excited.”
The mission for this group of soldiers was to run a hospital in Iraq. Colonel Mark Stevens said it was a successful mission. “We had a very productive year in support of the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve. I missed my family dearly but I feel like we accomplished a lot and I’m proud of what we did.”
Raphael Mitchell is another one of the returning soldiers, he says he is excited and nervous to be back. “I kind of feel out of place, I honestly feel out of place, but with time and patience things will get back to normal,”
And now that he is back, Mitchell said he has one thing on his mind, “Probably go get a steak, probably go get a steak honestly.”
